Foster parents are our most dedicated helpers, and we could not improve the outcomes of children we serve without them. These are people who understand that it is never convenient or easy to foster children, but it is always worth it. They know the power of communicating to an unwanted, abandoned, and unloved child that they are now chosen, and they are welcome. Many people ask themselves if they are “ready” to foster, but no child is ever ready to be homeless or abandoned. You can show a child who has no experience, that love is available to them, that they are worthwhile, and they are safe in a world that has always been unsafe.
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘it’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”-Fred Rogers
